BUILDING USE POLICIES
FOR THE SUMMIT COUNTY CHURCH OF CHRIST
As a service to its mmbers, their immediate
families (parents, children & grandchildren) and the community
at large, the Summit County Church of Christ wants to make
its facilities available for Church Groups to stay at our
building and for special events such as Weddings, Receptions,
Family Reunions, Elders Retreats or similar gatherings. These
policies are to help clarify the responsibilities of those
groups, families, or individuals who desire to use the Church
facility. It also describes the responsibilities of the Church.
Responsibilities of parties desiring
to use our facility:
a. Group Representative. Appoint a single representative
to accept responsibility for communicating with the Building
Use Coordinator regarding the use of the Church facilities.
This individual will take responsibility for paying the donation
for Building use to the Church, along with any deposits, prior
to any use of the facility. Representative will also communicate
and schedule dates for use of the facility with our Building
Use Coordinator.
b. Cleaning Facility after Use. You are responsible
for cleaning the facility and leaving it in the same condition
and arrangement/setup as it was at the beginning of use. All
counter and table surfaces shall be cleared and cleaned, all
waste baskets emptied and all trash containers shall be emptied.
The kitchen, if used, shall also be fully cleaned, including
sweeping and mopping, and any unused food or food containers
shall be cleared and placed in the facility dumpster. Make
certain the dumpster is completely closed so as not to attract
bears. New trash can liners can be found in the pantry. Cleaning
supplies are located in the closet on the left side of the
kitchen and under the sink. Please complete all cleanup actions
by the last day of your stay at the facility.
c. Forbidden Items. We do not allow pets, alcoholic
beverages, tobacco or narcotics of any type in the building
or on the Church property.
d. Responsibility for Damage. Any loss or damage
to the facilities, equipment or furnishings during your stay
is your responsibility and you agree to compensate the Church
for any such damage. Please notify the Church immediately,
in the event of such a loss or damage to any of the Church’s
facilities, furnishings or equipment.
e. Walk through Inspection. At the end of your
stay the Building Use Coordinator will go through the facility
with you to check on cleaning etc. You are expected to arrange
a mutually convenient time to do this.
2. Donations/Contributions/Deposits:
a. You will be asked to make a donation to the
Church for facility use. Said donation Church will be paid
to the Church representative upon arrival at the building.
The donation is to help cover the costs of maintenance, utilities,
etc. Generally it is expected that groups spending the night
at the Church Building will donate $20 per person per night.
Donations for other events such as weddings, retreats, or
family reunions may be discussed with the Building Use Coordinator.
All building use donations are to be paid to the Summit County
Church of Christ and are due upon arrival.
b. Cleaning Deposit. Depending upon the intended
use of the facility a cleaning deposit of $200 may be required
to be paid in advance of your use of the facility. The Building
Use Coordinator will inform you if this will be required.
If the facility is left in a clean and appropriate condition
by the group, the cleaning deposit will be returned, after
inspection by the Building Use Coordinator, by mail. If the
building is not left cleaned, the Cleaning Deposit will be
kept as a donation.
c. Cancelation Fees. If you cancel your use
of the facility in advance, the $200 cleaning deposit will
be refunded. Please be considerate of others who may want
to use our facility by notifying the Building Use Coordinator
as soon as possible of any cancelation.
3. Safety Considerations:
a. The Church wants the use of its facilities
to be a positive experience for you. Please use good judgment
and common sense while using the facility. Please supervise
all members of your group to ensure everyone’s safety,
particularly around the stairs, bathrooms and outside decks
and steps.
b. Trash must be put inside the dumpster and
please close the lid completely so as not to attract bears.
c. Emergency Telephone Numbers are listed by
the downstairs phone.
d. We have a fireplace for your convenience
and pleasure. Please use it with extreme caution. A chimney
fire could cause a major disaster in this area. All trees
in the area are National Forest and it is against the law
to cut them for firewood or remove them from the area. There
is wood that may be burned in the fireplace outside the shed
behind the building.

a. Please enjoy our facility safely and we look
